Appearance: 6' 180lbs 28 years old Auburn hair/beard Amber eyes Hair slightly below his shoulders and always tied back. Inevitably pretty knotted and windswept. Beard in similar condition.
Broad shouldered with a thick waist from hauling ropes basically his entire life, but not especially trim or overtly muscular.
Backstory: Gregor was born to the captain of a small fleet, his father unknown, but that never stopped his mother from running a ship tighter than any other. Piracy was something of a harsh term, but no less accurate in practice. He learned early on that sometimes people get hurt, and sometimes you'll be responsible, and everyone needs to eat. He worked the ship as soon as he could walk, working as hard as any other for his mother always warned him of what happened to useless mouths. In times of quarrel, either opposing pirate crews or agitated local governments finally putting their foot down, he acted as powder monkey, running between cannons to supply their devastating firepower.
Eventually, the dangerous life in the open sea collected it's growing debt from his mother's continued wagers. He was fourteen when the flagship went down in a spray of debris and flames. He was below deck, hauling a fresh supply of cannon fodder when a blast hit their powder casks on the deck. His mother, Ruth, at the wheel made a valiant effort in keeping the ship going. In the end, she brought her prized ship crashing into the Taldoran warship, taking it down with her. Gregor barely managed to stay afloat after just clearing the deck as water flooded below. He was retrieved, hours later after the smoke had finally cleared, along with the stranded sailors and pirates alike. In the state he was in, young as he was, and with his mother's lucky sash marking him what appeared a member of a Royal Navy, he was taken aboard as a rescued sailor and brought back to Taldor under those pretenses.
For another fourteen years, he has worked his way through service after service enlisting in the navy under the name Gregor Psalm. Though he knows his way across any ship deck, he has often found himself put in the position of ship cook. Even so, his proficiency with blades has, on more than one occasion, proven him more than capable of dicing more than just fruit.
Every so often, he hears word of the Dread Pirate Ruth LeMente and wonders, but has largely left that life behind. If his mother lives, so be it, the world deserves a force as strong as her to keep them on their toes. For Gregor, all he wants is to save his meager allowances and dredge up a fleet of his own. With his windward ear always searching for a good payoff, the whispers of the Sun Orchid Elixir recipe having made its way to Absalom have caught his fancy. Perhaps selfishly, he has begun the task of harboring gossip from the docks and stowing away what information he can to get a head start.
He does his best to keep his head low on the docks, but has edged away from reenlisting in favor of hanging about the city. The score is too promising to risk being taken far off on the seas. He may have taken an unapproved shore leave during the ship's last docking in Absalom before his contract had completely run out, but if he was missing for that last month on the journey back to Taldor it would have run its course by the time they returned to fetch him. Either way, who was truly going to miss a simple cook enough to come hunting for him?

Information intentionally left to GM discretion: -Father's identity. -Whether any other pirates from his mother's crew were rescued along with the him by the Taldorans. -The ultimate fate of his mother -Whether anyone actually cares that he abandoned his contracted enlistment a month early. -What trouble he may get into essentially scabbing work on the docks while he dodges commitment to a naval crew.

Good good good - i can work with this, I especially like know what you want me to work with and what you want to keep for your own narrative pleasure.
I'll just let yah know that the story starts off very shortly after the discovery of the Sun Orchid Elixer Recipe being in Absalom, and the prologue occurs briefly before! So just keep that in mind - i'll also be making the prologue in consideration of this, seeing as you probably wouldn't have dodged your contract just yet.
